VALLEY CITY, N.D. – On Saturday, December 7th , the library will hold a day long event called “Libraries are Sweet and Books are My Jam Market Day.” The Market Day event will open at 11:00 am in the morning and go until 4:30 pm in the
afternoon.

It will feature many items for sale such as jams, jellies, sweet treats, crafts, and more! One of the special crafts we will be selling is the bookends handmade by local craftsman Dean Pedersen. These bookends were especially made for the library and are only available here! There will also be a silent auction with items donated by local businesses and patrons. Bidding on the silent auction items will start at 11 am and end at 2pm. Children are welcome and invited to attend as well! They may
participate in creating their very own silly gingerbread magnet craft. They are welcome to play games or play with the toys and Legos as well. Please remember that children must be supervised by an adult while in the library.

During the afternoon hours, some of our local talent will be performing mini concerts up in the main library area. They will begin at 1 pm with music by Joe DeMasi. At 2 pm, Dave and Maggie Oakland will share their musical talent with us, and at 3 pm, members of the Valley City Community Band Brass will take the stage. The Valley Voices Choir will be our final mini
concert beginning at 4 pm. If you like to listen to Christmas music, this will be a great opportunity to enjoy it being performed by many talented people in our community!

All proceeds from the Market Day, and any donations will be used to “close the gap” in our fundraising campaign to restore the dome and to re-roof the library. Our “Light Up the Library” fundraising campaign is very close to our goal, so we encourage our community to help us complete our fundraising goals. Both projects are complete and now after 50 plus years of the dome windows being dark, you can see light shining through them! The light shines in the library during the day and out of the library at night!

Another opportunity to support the library will take place on Tuesday, December 10th from 2-4 pm. The Library Foundation board will be holding a “Close the Gap Library-a-thon” event. It will be hosted by Steve Urness of KOVC, and you will get to hear about the project, library, and more from Library Foundation President, Joe DeMasi, Valley City Barnes County Public Library Board President Hilde van Gijssel, Library Director Anita Tulp, as well as from Ryan Goodman from RDA, Inc, who was our contractor for the restoration project. We will have some other special guests during that time as well. Please join us in helping to “Close the Gap” and fully fund the library restoration and roofing projects. Our library is an essential part of our community and the support of our city and county patrons is greatly appreciated.
