JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Parks and Recreation Department and the “Wings on Strings” Kite Club are sponsoring the 30th annual Kite Festival from May 31 to June 2, 2024. The Festival will take place from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at Meidinger Park, with the possibility of lighted night flying if the weather allows. This year, we are expecting the most fliers we’ve ever had, with more than 50 planning on attending.

Kite Festival has become a premier kiting event, attracting kite enthusiasts from across the country and Canada. The event is free and open to everyone. In addition to the kite fliers there will be a Kids Zone on Saturday, that includes kite making, face painting, candy drops, fun games and activities, door prizes, music and more. This is a great opportunity for families to spend quality time together, for kite enthusiasts to showcase their skills, and for everyone to enjoy a fun-filled weekend. There will be concessions provided by the James River Figure Skating Club throughout the weekend.

The “Wings on Strings” Kite Club and the Parks and Recreation Department will have a kite building station during the Kite Festival on Saturday, June 1, at 10:00 am. Materials will be provided. Children 8 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult. You will be able to fly your kite after the Kite Building Class. There will also be a vendor show on Saturday from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. Check out area artisans while watching the kites fly.

The Kite Festival will be held at:
Meidinger Park Addition
10th St. & 17th Ave. SW
Jamestown ND 58401
