Jamestown Police Search for Suspect After Shots Fired at Leopaldt Park

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Police responded to a report of gunfire Monday evening at Leapaldt Park in the 1500 block of 9th Avenue NE.

According to victims at the scene, an intoxicated adult Native American male, dressed in dark-colored baggy clothing, confronted two adult men and two juveniles shortly before 6 p.m. The suspect allegedly ordered the group to leave the park and then fired at least two rounds from a handgun in their direction before fleeing southeast.

Officers arrived within three minutes but were unable to locate the suspect. A perimeter was established, and officers conducted a door-to-door search, speaking with nearby residents. Investigators recovered two 9-millimeter shell casings and a black pullover hoodie at the scene.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect remains at large. Authorities urge anyone with information about the incident to contact the Jamestown Police Department at 701-252-2414.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol, Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office, and North Dakota Probation and Parole assisted in the response and investigation.
