SANBORN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A fatal single-vehicle rollover crash occurred shortly before 6:30 am Tuesday morning on Barnes County Road 22, approximately three miles west of Sanborn.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports that a 1999 Toyota 4-Runner, driven by a 30-year-old male from Sanborn, was heading westbound when it veered onto the north shoulder of the road. The driver lost control as the vehicle returned to the roadway and subsequently crossed into the south ditch. The vehicle rolled, resulting in the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, being ejected.
Despite multiple airbags deploying in the crash, the driver sustained fatal injuries. No other individuals were involved in the accident.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol, Barnes County Sheriff’s Office, and Sanborn Fire responded to the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol. The driver’s identity will be released following family notification.
