JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) is turning pink this October, using the familiar childhood gesture of a “pinky swear” to symbolize a pledge to health and loved ones during Breast Health Month. The initiative encourages not just personal responsibility but also communal support for breast cancer prevention and detection.

JRMC’s campaign aims to break down barriers to healthcare access while fostering accountability. A media release states that the hospital is more than just urging women to schedule mammograms—they’re asking everyone to make a promise to prioritize health for themselves and those they care about.

The medical center’s mammography team—Maria Benson, Renae Berg, and Heather Sobolik—emphasizes comfort and compassion in their care, ensuring every patient feels supported. This year, JRMC is offering its VIPink experience for mammogram recipients, including the introduction of contrast-enhanced digital mammography (CEDM), a technology that provides enhanced imaging, especially for those with dense breast tissue.

Radiology Manager Conrad Mitzel highlighted the impact of this technology, stating it significantly improves early detection of breast cancer.

Additionally, JRMC’s “No Excuses” program continues to offer accessible screenings for uninsured and underinsured women, further demonstrating the hospital’s commitment to eliminating financial barriers to care. JRMC Foundation Director Tonya Perkins emphasized that the program ensures no woman must choose between her health and her budget.

To schedule a screening or learn more about JRMC’s offerings, the community is encouraged to visit jrmcnd.com/pinkyswear or call (701) 952-4852.
