VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The issue of flavored vaping cartridges and e-liquids will be on the June 11th ballot in the upcoming city-wide election in Valley City.

City Commissioner Jeff Erickson supports the idea of letting the public settle the issue during this advisory vote.

Last year, business operators asked the city why they banned a legal substance that’s sold nearly everywhere else in North Dakota. While City County Health Tobacco prevention coordinator Kaitlen Lee believes flavored vaping and e-liquids are harmful to kids and the city ordinance that bans the sale of those substances works to curb youth vaping.

On Saturday, June 1st, local advocates of the vote no on vaping campaign distributed door hangers explaining their position on the issue along with members from the American Heart Association and American Cancer Society.

Former City County Health District Administrator and Registered Nurse Theresa Will believes keeping the current city ordinance in place protects children in our community.
