JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) -The Jamestown Adult Learning Center (ALC) hosted the ND Region VI GED Graduation Ceremony on June 24, 2025, at the James Valley Career and Technology Center. Twenty-two students successfully completed their GED examinations this academic year, with eight students attending this ceremony.
Mr. Bryan Miller, ABE Coordinator for the Jamestown ALC, and Ms. Chantal Molina, ABE Coordinator for the Valley City ALC, served as Masters of Ceremonies for the event. Mrs. Heidi Eckart, JVCTC Assistant Director, addressed the graduates and introduced Pat & Ben Smith who awarded the Betty Hanson Grant to Allie Ripley and Lakeisha Hayes. Ms. Sara Mitzel, ND Assistant Director of Adult Education, delivered the commencement address, offering words of encouragement and inspiration. The dais was open to all attendees, where one graduate shared her journey and words of encouragement with the other graduates and guests.
Generous contributions from local businesses helped make the event a success. RTS Shearing, Sherbenske’s, and Cavendish Farms provided pizza, drinks, and decorations. Walmart donated party supplies and snacks. The cake & more snacks were provided by Ms. Molina.
The ND Region VI ALC encourages individuals interested in earning their GED to reach out to Bryan Miller via the Jamestown ALC Facebook Group or by contacting the James Valley CTC. Alternatively, contact Chantal Molina via the Valley City Adult Learning Center Facebook page or by contacting the Sheyenne Valley Area CTC. The Region VI ALC also offers English Language Learning (ELL) classes to assist individuals looking to improve their English skills. Additionally, businesses or individuals who would like to assist in funding GED test fees or other programs are invited to contact Mr. Miller and Ms. Molina for more information.
