Charges on Jamestown Daycare Center Arrests Changed

JAMESTOWN, ND  (NewsDakota.com)  The owner and director of a Jamestown daycare center have had their charges altered after being arrested Friday, May 30th.

Nicole Ruby Stevahn, the owner of Charge On Together Daycare in Jamestown, as well has the director of the facility, Adrian Anne Miller, have appeared in Stutsman County District Court to face charges of failing to report suspected child abuse or neglect as a mandatory reporter.  The charge is a Class B misdemeanor in North Dakota, punishable with 30 days in jail and a $1000 fine.

Miller and Stevahn have no criminal record outside of traffic citations in North Dakota.

Child care workers are one of several groups of professionals that are mandatory reporters in North Dakota.

Law enforcement have not released any details that led to the arrests or charges. The lead agency is the Jamestown Police Department.

Stevahn appeared before Judge Daniel Narum and entered a not guilty plea.  Bond was set at $1,000.  Miller also appeared before Narum, with bond set at $1,000.  A dispositional conference for Miller was set for September 17th.  A jury trial date was set for September 30th.  No plea on the action against Miller was available. A No-Contact order also appears in the proceedings against Stevahn.

This incident remains under investigation with the Jamestown Police Department and the Stutsman County State’s Attorney’s office.
