SPIRITWOOD, N.D. (PPR) – Dakota Spirit was built at the Spiritwood Energy Park, after Cargill shuttered a malt facility there.

Jeff Zueger (ZOO-grr) is the CEO of Harvestone Low Carbon Partners, Dakota Spirit’s parent company. He says with the Spirtwood Station power plant, abundant corn and rail service, it was an ideal location for an ethanol plant.  Zueger says the plan is to grow capacity at the site. And he also says the next phase will include carbon capture and storage.

Zueger says the plan right now is to just sequester the CO2. But he says there are potential opportunities for using that in the future.
