Emergency Responders Called to Anhydrous Ammonia Leak

LEAL, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – About 12 people were exposed to Anhydrous Ammonia, after a leak was reported at a plant near Leal, North Dakota along Highway 9 about 2:37pm Wednesday, June 19th.

Barnes County Emergency Manager Jessica Jenrich said the leak was quickly contained by workers before first responders arrived at the scene. She said three people were transported to the hospital in Valley City for observation, no serious injuries were reported.

Jenrich said thankfully the wind was light at the time of the Anhydrous Ammonia leak otherwise more people could have suffered serious injuries. She said several agencies responded to the call for service. The full interview is below.
