Get Ready for Another Bitterly Cold Polar Vortex

STATEWIDE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – As temperatures plunge below zero in the coming days, law enforcement agencies across the state and medical healthcare professionals are advising residents to exercise caution.

Forecasters say temperatures will be below zero for several days including dangerous wind chills.

Due to extremely cold conditions, it is advised to reduce travel if at all possible, have a winter survival kit in your vehicle during these bitterly cold days.

Symptoms of hypothermia include shivering, slurred speech or mumbling, slow and shallow breathing, weak pulse, clumsiness or lack of coordination, drowsiness or very low energy, confusion or memory loss and loss of consciousness. Symptoms of frostbite include numbness, tingling, clumsiness due to joint stiffness, pain and blistering after rewarming. Patches of skin may be in shades of red, white, blue, gray, purple or brown.
